Aveling and Porter RC10

On behalf of the owners we are pleased to offer for sale Aveling & Porter 8726. This handsome engine is one of the rarer and more sought-after designs of Aveling roller with a compound slide-valve cylinder arrangement.


Boilerwise it is understood she will need a new firebox, we have an independent boiler inspector coming this week and a full report will be available for genuinely interested parties. We would suggest for a firebox potential owners price in roughly £15,000 to have the work done professionally or £5000 if fitting the box yourselves. Originally, we expect she was fitted with a water pump but is now water fed through twin injectors.


It is worth noting that although the box does need doing the engine looks to be in a lot better condition mechanically than many other engines that are due this sort of work. The motion seems to have very little wear and it would be fair to assume she had a relatively easy working life as the gears have plenty of life left in them overall making her a very worthwhile project.
