9" Foden Steam Lorry

On behalf of the owners we are pleased to advertise for sale this stunning 9” Foden C-Type steam lorry. This well-known engine was completed in 2009 and has since been kept in excellent condition having undergone much work in recent years including a full professional repaint.

The Foden was one of a pair built by well-respected model engineers Mick Cox and Ken Flemings, this one being kept and rallied by Mick before sale to the current owner. They were built as per the full-size prototypes with a compound cylinder block and double high arrangement as such have proven very powerful and economical engines.

9” Fodens, this one in particular, are brilliant engines on the road and will comfortably sit at 20-25mph thanks to the 3 speed gearing. The size of the cab means there is space for both fireman and driver to comfortably sit, assuming they are not very tall due to the roof height. For running at night a full light set up is fitted and to stop the inclement weather a windscreen to the Foden design has also been fitted. The engine is very sociable with the large flat bed on the rear, 2 large toolboxes double up as seats and a high top tilt with windows for passengers is also included along with the more traditional lower tilt shown in many of the photos.

Overall the lorry sits 18ft long, 7ft wide and 8ft tall so will fit in most car garages.

The engine comes complete ready to rally with a full set of firing irons, 2 sets of cab sheets, a spare set of firebars, spare wheel which is carried on the engine plus a new spare rim and tyre. The templates for the windscreen and side windows are also included. She will be fully steam tested by an independent boiler inspector on agreement of purchase.
