6" Tasker Little Giant

We had a great day road testing this engine! This is the first 6” Tasker we have driven and although one of the smaller designs of half size Engines it is a very capable machine.

Based on the 4NHP Tasker “Little Giant” Steam Tractor this 6” example was the first to be built by Great Northern Steam (now Dream Machines) and unlike more recent products from the company was all built in the UK. The CE marked boiler was supplied by John Rex Model Engineering.

Since completion the engine has clearly been looked after and maintained. It steams like a witch and is very easy to get along with. On the road in top gear she gets along at an impressive turn of speed and even the big hill up into our yard didn’t bring her to a halt and the need to change down to bottom wheel.

The CE marked John Rex boiler has had a thorough inspection by an independent boiler inspector including lagging removal for the 10-year hydraulic. It is reported to be in very good condition with minimal wastage since new, the report is available for interested buyers. Water feed is through a crankshaft driven pump and steam injector.

The engine is considerably bigger than 4” Traction engines, overall dimension are similar to a 4” McLaren road loco but she sits taller and controls to hand are much larger. Overall, 7' long, 5' tall and 2'8" wide, estimated weight 750kg.

As with all our ready to rally engines it will come with a full set of firing irons, coal, oil and a days tuition included. Part exchange of all steam and vintage vehicles included.
