6" Burrell GMT - Dreamachines
Dream Machines are the only manufacturer of large scale, ready to run traction engines in the world and as the exclusive UK agents we are pleased to offer for sale the handsome 6” Burrell Gold Medal Steam Tractor. The engines are supplied brand new and have only been steamed for testing and display purposes.
We are big fans of the 6” Burrell GMT here at Legacy, as per the full size they are a capable and versatile engine that gets along very well on the road. The 3 speed gearing and powerful compound cylinder arrangement means you can cover a number of miles in a surprisingly little time. Dream Machines have been making traction engines for many years and it would be fair to say they know what they are doing! The engine has run perfectly “straight out of the box” requiring only the normal fettling as the engines settle in with use.
The welded steel boiler is CE marked and built to all the relevant requirements under licence of Lloyds Register of London, when the engines arrive in the UK they are independently tested by experienced boiler inspectors. Water feed is through a large crank driven pump and the highly reliable Holroyd injector.
Driving the engine is a treat, the engine is free steaming and you never seem short of power whether pottering around the rallyfield or on the road. The seating arrangement is currently a single seat however a double seat option is also available from us.
One of the big benefits of the 6” GMT is you get the performance normally attributed to larger Road Locomotive style engines but in a more easy to handle and transport package.

It is no secret that Dream Machine engines are built in India which may be met with a hint of scepticism from some however we would encourage anyone to come and view the engines to make their own judgements. The company have been building engines at the purpose built factory since moving production from Darlington UK to India In 2012 and employ over 50 skilled members of staff including machinists, fabricators, coded welders, painters and signwriters. To keep close control of all aspects of the builds the company now also produce their own castings to ensure the highest quality. Engines can also be built and finished to the owners own specification so if you fancied the Burrell but in a different colour and lining scheme please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
