4" Garrett 7NHP Traction Engine

After last years flurry of Garrets we haven’t seen one for while so its been nice to have this one back in for steam up, Garretts are our favourite design of 4” Traction engine, they come out a large and powerful model which potter around the rally field all day but also have a good turn of speed on the road.

We know this Garrett well as originally sold it last year, she has just arrived back with us as part-ex for a larger engine. Over the winter she has been gone through and lots of little jobs completed to improve the engine both cosmetically and mechanically. Overall build quality is to a good standard, she has always run well and since completion feels to have done very little work.
Those wondering why she doesn’t quite look like other Garretts its because of the flywheel, we are not sure why but the builder has fitted a Burrell flywheel. This makes no difference to the operation of the engine however should the new owner wish to change it Garrett castings are readily available.
The steel boiler is water fed through a crankshaft driven pump and steam injector. When with us in October last year she underwent a full ten-year inspection with an independent boiler inspector and is reported to be in very good condition.
The Garrett is now ready to be enjoyed, she comes ready to rally with a full set of firing irons, coal, oil and a days tuition included. As always we would be happy to consider all steam and vintage vehicles in part exchange.
