4" Foster New Build

We are pleased to offer for sale this brand new 4” Foster Traction Engine, the engine has only been steamed a handful of times for testing purposes and is a particularly well-made example.

The 4” Foster is a popular design and for good reason, they come out a large and powerful engine which are great for use on the rally field and get on well on the road when required. The builder originally planned to make a crane engine so has fitted a heavier front end and larger front wheels, personally we think she sits better than the standard design and looks especially handsome on the strakes.

The professionally made boiler runs at 120PSI and is water fed by a crank shaft driven pump and reliable steam injector. It has been commercially tested by an independent boiler inspector.

Since taking the pictures we have fitted the tank emblem on the front name ring. Included in the sale are the parts to make the governor assembly so the new owner can decide if they wanted to fit this or not.

It is a fair to say the Foster is a relatively common engine on the rallyfield however because of this we now see very few new ones being built. Finding examples of this quality and with a bit of individuality is a rare and the engine will offer the owner many years of enjoyable and trouble-free steaming.

As with all our ready to rally engines it will come with a full set of firing irons, coal, oil and a days tuition included. We would be happy to consider all steam and vintage vehicles part exchange.
