4" Burrell Road Loco

Before anyone says it, yes the roof is on wonky. How I only realised this when putting together the advert I don’t know, it does sit right when fitted properly!

We are pleased to have for sale this newly and very well put together 4” Burrell Road Locomotive. The engine has only just been completed and has come to us for final fettling and steam testing before sale.

Built from the well-regarded Steam Traction World kits the engine has been built by an accomplished motor engineer and designer with many years’ mechanical experience. It has only been steamed a handful of times but in doing so the owner has concluded that in his advancing years it may be a struggle to enjoy and rally. He is now progressing well with a Likamobile steam car which is also beautifully finished and more suited to his requirements.

The pictures and reputation of these quality engines do much of the talking, they are formidable machines on the road with speeds well in excess of 20mph being recorded. On the rallyfield they are an easy engine to drive being powerful and free steaming so suit new and experienced engine owners alike.

The engine will come fully tested with a new steam and hydraulic test from our independent boiler examiner. We are sorting the new-build-niggles, nothing of which is unexpected and apart from our road testing the engine will be sold as in new condition. It will come with a full set of firing irons, coal, oil and a days tuition with us.

The engine is not currently road registered, but we would be happy to complete the paperwork on the new owner’s behalf which should speed up the process.

Please note viewing is welcomed but the engine cannot be shown in steam until steam tested for insurance purposes which should be done in the next 2-3 weeks.
