2" Garrett "Suffolk Punch"

If you are someone that likes the rare and unusual then they dont come much rarer or more unusual than the Garrett Suffolk Punch Tractor. This part built 2” model is the work of a talented model engineer and once completed will make a mighty fine and interesting model.

After being awarded a Silver Medal for the stunning 2” Thetford Town we also have for sale the builder set his sights on a Gold and embarked on the ambitious project of building a scale model of “The Joker” Suffolk Punch Tractor. Before any machining could start countless hours were spent at the Suffolk Records office and the Long Shop Museum collating drawings and pictures of the full size engine. The project progressed well until the builders sad passing a few years ago.

The workmanship so far is first rate and much of the complicated and unusual aspects of the engine are completed. The bulk of the remaining work is to machine the supplied cylinder casting and finish the top works which fortunately is to a more conventional design.

The engine comes with a set of full size drawings for reference (which we believe are complete) cylinder block casting and pattern.

The boiler is home-built but like the rest of the engine very well made. It has had a twice working pressure hydraulic test and comes with the relevant paperwork from an independent boiler inspector.

It is important to the owner that the engine goes to someone who can finish it to the same high standard of which it has been started. As such sensible offers from a model engineer who can do the model justice will be considered.
