We do love a Foden here at Legacy, and if the lottery numbers come up this one is steaming straight to our yard! It would be fair to say the 9" Foden is the ultimate miniature steam engine for roading and in the cab it gives the most similar experience to being on a full size....miniature might not quite be the right word as she comes out around 4 tons!

Completed in 2014 the engine was largely built by reputable Model Engineer Dave Evenson. As per the proto-type, it is fitted with a compound cylinder block including the proper double high arrangement and 3 speed gearing. The boiler runs at 230psi making for a powerful yet economical engine, water feed is through a crank driven pump and steam injector. Finished in professional 2-pack paint, as you can see from the pictures the engine has remained in excellent condition since completion.

For those with an eye for proportions you may notice the cab sits a little bit tall, these extra couple of inches make for a considerably more comfortable driving experience and a number of other 9" Fodens around have been done similarly.

On the road the engine sits comfortably at 16-18mph, the owner reports they have successfully completed 100s of mile on the engine and it really is a joy to drive and easy to get along with. The main water tank stores enough for around 50 miles, with the second tank providing enough water for a full weekend of rallying. The blower is cab operated which if you haven't driven a scale Foden before is an excellent addition.

The Foden is being sold ready to rally with a full set of firing irons included. the rear tilt and frame is all included and ideal for passengers on road-runs.

Viewing is welcome by genuinely interested parties with the owner in Worcestershire. For further information or to arrange a viewing please do not hesitate to contact us.

Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
