6" Little Samson Steam Tractor

On behalf of the owners we are pleased to offer for sale this very well presented 6" Little Samson Steam Tractor. There are a good number of these engines on the rally field now but I have always had a soft spot for this one as feel it is very close to how the full size would of looked, the cast wheels with the fronts set back, the well executed but understated paint scheme and the full motion covers and solid flywheel make it look very similar to the original works photos we have seen, it even has the canopy as per full size but as with most miniatures it spends most of its time with this removed for ease of driving.

Built by a life-long steam enthusiast and experienced model engineer the engine was originally completed in 2018, the general build and quality of engineering was to a very high standard but it would be fair to say the paintwork was functional. It was sold to Stuart Duncumb (of signwriting fame www.stuartduncumbsignwriting.com) who repainted much of the engine and applied the attractive lining scheme. The engine has been kept in good condition and over the years has seen relatively little use as such it gives the feel of being a really well sorted and settled in but with no signs of being tired.

The 6" Little Samson is a great sized engine for people looking to "upgrade" from a 4", although not much bigger in footprint (its only 30cm longer than a 4" Foster) it is overall a considerably larger and more capable engine. Weighing in at around 900kg it is also within the sensible weight realms of being able to transport behind a large family car or in a van.

The boiler was built by AJB Boilers and comes with all the relevant CE approved paperwork, it has been tested by commercial independent boiler examiners since new and comes with well documented history. It is also registered for the road. The Boiler is water fed through the conventional crank driven pump and a (so far) perfectly reliable steam injector.

As with all our ready to rally engines it comes with a full set of firing irons, extension chimney, coal, oil and days tuition included if required.
