We are pleased to offer for sale this newly completed 4" Burrell Traction engine, well-built from Steam Traction World kits. The engine is offered for sale in un-steamed condition but running on compressed air, the new owner will have to undertake the commissioning and arrange boiler testing or this is something we can help with if required.
The work of an experienced vehicle restorer with countless motorbikes and cars to his name, it was life long ambition to build a steam engine. As with all his projects the enjoyment is in the work and completion rather than driving the finished article hence why the engine is being offered for sale at this stage. For steam people this may seem slightly unusual but we have sold several engines from builders with similar ambitions over the years. With the interest being in the build, it has been done to a really nice standard with paintwork being Craftmaster coach enamel, applied properly with the primer, undercoat and top coat.
If you have followed us for a while you know we are big fans of the STW products, the 4" Burrell Traction Engine being the original and most popular design. They are popular for good reason with plenty of power, easy to steam and with a wealth of community knowledge available. Although the company recently closed we understand it will be coming back again in some re-incarnation and spares will be available again in the future.
Viewing is welcome at our premises in Suffolk, where possible we are happy to consider all steam and vintage vehicles part exchange. Delivery, both UK and export, can be arranged if required. To have the engine fully commissioned and steam tested in our workshop we would budget a bill of £500-1000 to cover the expected work and any little niggles that may arise.
For further information or to arrange a viewing please do not hesitate to contact us.
Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
