4" Burrell T.E & Trailer

Completed in August this year this well-built example of the Steam Traction World 4" Burrell is presented in virtually as new condition, supplied with a scale Traction Trailer this is a ready to rally outfit which will offer the new owner years of enjoyment.

A stalwart of the STW product range the 4" Traction engine is their most popular product and for good reason, the design is tried and tested and when built properly is an excellent all rounder performer on the rally field. With the warehouse full of spares in Daventry should any maintenance work be required in the future it can be handled by anyone competent with a set of spanners rather than needing skills on the lathe.

The boiler has been hydraulic and steam tested by an independent boiler inspector. As per the normal arrangement it is water fed through a crank driven pump and steam injector, being a recent kit it is one the excellent Holroyd injectors. As we have come to expect from these engines it steams very well and is easy to get along with.

Shortly after we picked the Burrell up we took it to a little family steam party where it was driven round countless time by the kids (on a private road and under adult supervision) and where cleaning was little more than an oily rag over wiped it. Both the engine and trailer will be having a proper polish up this week and we will be re-painting the chimney before sale, we will also tweak the timing and fit a larger blast nozzle which will improve the running of the engine further but this is only a few hours work so the engine is in effect ready to collect and go should you want it for the weekend.

As with all our ready to rally engines it comes complete with firing irons, coal, oil, extension chimney and a days tuition if required. The traction trailer comes with two drawbars, one for it to act as a driving trolley with the front panel removed and the standard longer one. The engine will also be road registered, we are just waiting for the log book to arrive.
