Built up from Steam Traction World kits as a project during the covid years, this 4" Burrell Road Loco has seen minimal use since completion having only been steamed around the owners garden. The owner has done a good job with the build and with the engine having seen so little use is in virtually new mechanical condition.

The 4" DCC Road Loco is an impressive engine, it stands considerably larger than the equivalent traction engine or Single Crank Compound Road Loco STW also supply and provides buckets of power. Being 3 speed the engine is excellent for road runs, in top gear it covers the miles with ease.

Boiler wise it will come with a new hydraulic and steam test from an independent boiler inspector. Water feed is the standard arrangement of steam injector and crank driven pump.

The builder has done a good job on most of the paintwork and used craftmaster paints, a couple of parts such as the motion covers could do with re-doing in our opinion to match the quality of the rest of it and personally we would paint the steering/brake wheels and the wayshaft bracket but this is something the new owner could do at their leisure should they wish.

A new full video will be uploaded shortly once we have done a couple of fettling jobs in the workshop, the one shown at the moment is testing under load during while adjusting the timing.

The Burrell is supplied ready to rally with all necessary firing irons, tube brush, coal, oil and days tuition included. Also included but not pictured is the canopy and any other bits supplied as standard in the STW kits which will be fitted to the engine.

Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
