4" Burrell Showmans Style Engine

If you enjoy the smell of Brasso and sitting outside the beer tent generating of an evening then this 4" Burrell Traction engine with showman's fittings could be just what you are looking for. No doubt the purists will be in revolt but ignoring them and focusing on the positives what we have here is a well made engine that's just been fully recommissioned, hydraulic and steam tested and is ready to rally and give endless hours of enjoyment to the new owner.

Finished in 1998 the Burrell has seen little use from new with previous owners preferring to enjoy the engine on display rather than in steam. It has just been recommissioned with the engine being completely gone through, work has included repacking all glands, fitting a new injector, belly tank and cladding removal for thickness testing plus the normal countless other jobs that spring up along the way.

The boiler was professionally built in 1986 and comes with all the original paperwork. Boiler testing has been carried out by the local Model Engineering club. It is water fed by a crank driven pump and steam injector. Dont let the age put you off, although 30 years old it is reportedly in better condition than a lot of 3 year old engines!

So the buyer is aware the dynamo does need wiring up and if being critical the rear wheels could do with a freshen up and repaint over the next winter.

The Burrell comes complete with the riding trolley, firing irons etc and a days tuition if required.

The engine is offered for sale privately by Mark (our man in Scotland) and viewing is welcomed at his by genuinely interested parties. If required though we would be happy to help and can arrange for the engine to come to our workshop in Suffolk subject to costs being covered.
