What is it about a Mac? They seem impressive, imposing and massive in all scales!

This is an engine we have had on the back burner for a number of years with work stopping and starting as and when time has allowed. It is pretty much complete requiring only some final jobs left to get it up and running, however we don't seem to ever find the time to do it so is being offered as is. However, we have spoken to Craftmaster Restorations and they would be happy to do the finishing work for the new owner if so required.

Lets be frank, the price is on the top-end for an unfinished 3" however this is quite a stand-out model which once on the rally-field will be rather special. Workmanship throughout has been done to a very high standard with the project started by an experienced model engineer who was heavily involved with the original Double B Designs of this and the larger scale Macs, I have included a picture in the listing to show how it first arrived with us. The tender, tins, belly tanks and gear-guards were manufactured for us by a local sheet metal specialist, the roof by a carpenter and then final assembly and paint done by us here at Legacy with sign-writing by Stuart Duncumb. As a business decision I should never of taken this on as it has cost far in excess of the asking price however when you get something as nice as this come in you do get a bit blinded and carried away!

Anyway enough of my financial justification...whats left to do:
- Finish steering and brake gear
- Final plumbing including drain cocks pipework and controls
- Make double high valve (or keep blanked off as is currently)
- Make and fit rear drawbar
- Final setting of canopy stays
- Setting of valve timing
- Hydraulic and steam test
- Make oil pots for motion
- Whatever else I have forgotten....

The boiler was manufactured by Franklin and Bell and comes with a full set of paperwork including material certificates and build hydraulic test. It is new and un-steamed. The boiler age predates CE marking but this is no issue for future testing. Included is one of the excellent Holroyd steam injectors.

Included but not shown in the pictures are the wheel drive pins, hub covers, machined brake block castings, ashpan and ashpan lever, cable for winch and various other bits and pieces. To complete there are no more castings required.

For further information or to arrange a viewing please do not hesitate to contact us. We would be happy to consider all steam and vintage vehicles part exchange. If required we can also arrange UK delivery or export.

Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
