We have some very nice engines come through the door here at Legacy and every now and again something really stands out with, this 3" Marshall S-Type being one of them. The closer you look the better this one gets with workmanship and attention to detail throughout being of Exhibition quality.

With a recent influx of vehicles following the summer holidays we are playing catch-up a bit as such we havent had the chance to get round to this one just yet however thought we would post some pictures so people know its here. The S-Type Marshall is a rare and interesting engine with the most notable feature being the radial valve gear, there are only a small handful of miniatures of the type built with this one being the best we have seen.

According to the boiler test history the engine was completed in 2007, it was then used sporadically over the following years with the final recorded test being in 2014. Unlike most miniatures the boiler itself is true to full-size with the hornplates being part of the boiler rather than being bolted on. The firebox originally had the X pressing in the top however on initial hydraulic it was discovered crown-stays were required due to the material choice and are now fitted.

Paintwork has been executed to a high standard and has mellowed nicely to give a working feel, the lining has been done as per the original Marshall scheme and to the correct line sizing etc. The running board and brackets are also included just not shown in the pictures.

The engine will be re-commissioned before sale with a full hydraulic and steam test being undertaken by an independent boiler inspector. Alternatively we would be happy to sell the engine "as-is" and adjust the price accordingly should someone want it sooner or just wants it for display.

For further information or to arrange a viewing of this somewhat special model please do not hesitate contact us.

Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
