3" Foster Traction Engine

We are pleased to offer for sale this rarely modelled 3" Foster Traction engine, over the years this is only the second example we have had in and not seen many on the rally field either. Headline for this engine is it had a brand new AJB steel boiler fitted in 2022 so despite its well loved appearance offers someone an engine with a boiler that has had very little use.

The 3" Foster comes out a really good size engine, park it next to a 3" Burrell and it dwarfs it, the extra boiler capacity and weight make for a really useable engine but still at a sensible size to transport. It would be fair to say this engine has been very much enjoyed, it is at the stage where realistically it wants a repaint and top-end overhaul to tighten up the motion work, saying that it still steams and runs well and more than capable of a weekend rallying. I think for someone who wants a running engine they can gradually improve then this could be a great option.

The engine has just undergone an annual steam test with an independent examiner, as expected the boiler is in excellent condition. Water feed is through the crank driven pump and a reliable steam injector.
