A quirky design by John Haining of his vision of the modern tractor if steam had prevailed over internal combustion. The Caradoc steam tractor makes for an interesting and unusual exhibit on the rally-field and a great affordable entry into the world of steam.
Looking over this engine its quite clear the builder knew their way around a workshop, general fit and finish is to a good standard and with the fresh coat of paint she looks a tidy little tractor. It does require some time spending on it to sort a few niggles, we have got loads on in the workshop at the moment and we just haven't had time to get round to sorting it ourselves hence offering the engine at a bargain price. Main two jobs are to re-position the water pump, either needs putting on a tilt or lowering down so in-line with the eccentric travel. Also it would struggle to pull the skin off a rice pudding, pretty sure the slide valves are being held off the valve face so more steam is going straight out the exhaust rather than through the engine as these are reportedly quite capable little engines when sorted.
A few evenings work and she will be a little cracker for someone, the boiler looks to have had hardly any use. Its a steel unit which is water fed by the crank driven pump and a hand pump. Boiler testing was done by a model club and steam test will cover most of this years rally season. We have just fitted a new pressure gauge and safety valve.
Price includes delivery to UK mainland via pallet courier. Included is a driving trolley, tube brush, firing irons, coal, oil etc. Please feel free to give us a call with any questions.
Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
