Without doubt some of the finest machining and workmanship we have seen on a 3" Burrell, this delightful model is complete and we have had it running on compressed air. Unfortunately, the home made copper boiler has failed on initial test and is unrepairable so will need replacement.
The work of a lifelong engineer the workmanship on this Burrell is first rate, fit and finish throughout is excellent and once complete this will be quite a stand out model. We have spoken to a number of copper boiler suppliers and a replacement will cost circa £4000 and around 6 months for delivery, they have said the old one can be used as a pattern which would make moving things over a relatively simple process.
The engine is currently in 2 halves (we removed the hornplates with everything still attached as one lump to inspect the boiler) but if required we would be happy to put it back together.
