The 3" Plastows Burrell is a design of engine we see quite a lot with several going through our hands each year, for their size they are a commendable performer on the rally field and offer people an engine large enough to sensibly use without expensive transport solutions and an affordable purchase price. This example is one of the nicest we have had in over the years, not only in terms of build quality but how well it runs and steams.

This Burrell has a well-made copper which we believe entered service in 2003, since then the engine looks to have had minimal use going by its general condition and the fact there is very little play in any of the valve gear or top works. Water feed is through the crank driven pump, a large hand pump and a steam injector. The engine seemed to steam particularly well and we had no issue keeping up pressure.

The engine hasn't come with a huge amount of paperwork but enough so that future testing should pose no issue. We have included a fresh hydraulic and steam test from an independent inspector within the asking price however they wont be returning to us until the New Year. We have conducted our own steam and hydraulic test to ensure the boiler is sound and would be happy to warranty it as such should someone wish to take the engine sooner and arrange testing themselves, we will discount the price accordingly.

The Burrell is being sold ready to rally with firing irons, steam raising blower, coal, oil, driving trolley and a days tuition included. As always we are happy to consider all steam and vintage vehicles part exchange where possible and UK delivery or export is also available. In its somewhat festive colour scheme it would like great under the Christmas Tree for any steam lover!

Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
