3" Aveling Steam Lorry

This is the first one of these we have had in and like the more common Steam Tractor variation it goes like a rocket and steams like a witch but with the massive benefit of actually sitting on the engine rather than on a trailer behind it.

The Maxitrak Avelings are well thought out little engines, most were originally supplied as ready machined kits for the original owners to build. It would be fair to say they are inspired by the full size counterparts rather than a true scale model but what you end up with is a practical and robust engine, which packs quite a punch in the small package. Anyone that has driven one of these will tell you about the somewhat comically fast top gear! It also comes out quite large for this scale steam lorry standing considerably taller, longer (not to mention much easier and more powerful to drive) than a 3" Foden.

The copper boiler is professionally built by Maxitrak and is water fed by a crank driven pump, hand pump and a steam injector. The engine steams freely and for an engine of this scale is easy to get along with and keep on top of.

Please bare in mind it is an older engine so don't expect perfection but it is overall tidy and ready to rally and enjoy. It comes with a full set of firing irons, steam raising blower, tube brush and a days tuition included.
