BROKERING SERVICE

We are pleased to offer for sale this recently completed Foster 3NHP steam tractor. The engine is in as new condition having only been steamed a handful of times for testing purposes.

The owner originally commissioned Great Northern Steam to build the engine in 2010 however after the company went into liquidation it was taken over by Dawsons of Bicker who have done the majority of the work and final assembly of the engine. Dawsons are regarded by many as the Foster experts having built a number of these tractors as well as other full size steam engines. Unfortunately due to the closure of their local steam rallies coupled with a health condition, which makes going further afield difficult, the owners have decided to sell the engine.

Over the years we have been fortunate enough to drive a couple of these Foster tractors and have found them to be free steaming and easy to handle, if a bit lively at full pressure, we expect this one to be much the same. On the road they get on well averaging around 7mph, it also comes with a custom built roading trailer which like the engine is yet to see any use. Up close the engine is bigger than you would expect, standing over 9ft tall and 12ft long. Weight is estimated at 5-6 tons so practical for moving on a lorry but probably heavier than most people would first think.

The boiler is a fully welded design with the hornplates s bolted on through the firebox stays. As you would expect the boiler is in perfect condition and with the correct care will last for decades. It is approved by Lloyds and comes with all the relevant documentation including boiler reports by an independent inspector. The steam test is due to run out in March however a new one can be arranged on agreement of sale.

The engine is currently located with the owner in Nottinghamshire however viewings can be arranged either there or with us in Suffolk, please give us some notice to arrange collection.

As always please speak to us about part exchanges.

Please excuse the pictures, we went to see the engine on the morning of storm Dennis so decided to keep it in the shed. The outside images are scans or photos.
