On behalf of the owner we are pleased to offer for sale this unique replica steam tractor, originally only 3 of this class were built by Rustons of which none survived into preservation.

Built by well known and respected engineer Colin Dix, the engine was completed and first steamed in 2014. Purchased by the current owners in late 2015, the engine has proven itself as a reliable and delightful engine on the road as has always attended events under its own steam, often with a living van in tow. The high speed has a higher ratio than standard to give a comfortable speed on the road, 10mph has been recorded which was far from flat out. A seat fitted on a pivot means the engine can be driven standing or sitting single handed or can be used for a steersman.

The engine is presented in good mechanical and aesthetic condition, lining was done by the highly regarded Adam Meredith. As you would expect from any engine that has been used and roaded there is the odd mark here and there, the paint in the crank-pit is no longer perfect, but as you can see from the pictures this no way detracts from the overall look of this lovely steam tractor.

The welded steel boiler is water fed through two reliable injectors. As per original, the Ramsbottom style safety valves lift at 150psi.

Should you wish to transport the engine its diminutive size makes life much easier than other full size engines, weighing around 4 tons there are many options for lorries without the need for a specific low-loader. For storage the chimney is on a quick release mechanism allowing it to be stored in a standard car garage.
