We are pleased to offer for sale this well built and sorted 6" Garrett 4CD, a deservedly popular engine which proves to be an excellent all rounder offering 6" road engine practicality and performance but at a manageable size and weight for transport. The Steam on the Road youtube channel is a great source of information on these engines https://www.youtube.com/@SteamOTR

Completed in 2015 the engine is the work of an experienced engineer and model builder with this being the 4th road engine he has completed (not to mention numerous locos), its build featured in the Model Engineer magazine in January 2021 with the engine adorning the front cover. As you would expect build quality throughout is to a high standard and since completion the engine has been well looked after, it runs well with plenty of grunt and like the other 4CDs we have driven steams well. It is worth noting there is a knock on slow tick-over and overrun which can be heard in the videos, on the road it quietens down and nothing is obviously loose or worn and doesn't effect the use of the engine, we will have a look but probably a job for winter.

The boiler was made by AJB engineering and as normal comes with all the relevant paperwork from them, the engine has been steam tested since new by the local Model Engineering club with all previous reports included in the paperwork file. The boiler runs at 200psi and is water fed by a steam injector and the crank driven pump.

The canopy is quickly removable with the supports dropping into holders, it splits to allow for the driver to drive the engine with half still on if so desired.

The Garrett is road registered and ready to rally with a full set of firing irons, coal, oil, various spares plus a days tuition are included. We are happy to consider all steam and vintage part exchange, UK wide delivery and export also available.

Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
