3" Burrell Traction Engine Plastows.

We are pleased to offer for sale this 3” Burrell that is built to the popular and well proven Plastows design. These punchy little engines are strong performers for their size on the rally field and offer a useable engine which is easy to transport.

This example runs well, the focus of the build has been to make a useable engine rather than a highly accurate scale model. A couple of bits aren’t true to full scale but function well such as the gear change and noticeably the big-end onto the crankshaft.

The engine is fitted with a commercially made steel boiler which has been independently inspected for a number of years, reports state she is in sound condition with minimal wastage since new. The boiler is water fed by a crankshaft driven pump and steam injector. The boiler is free steaming and for its size easy to manage.

Please note the pictures are from when the engine was last with us in 2022 but remains in much the same condition, she is just in the workshop for a full check over and fresh steam test so will be available in a few weeks but viewing is welcome before hand.

As with all our ready to rally engines it will be supplied with firing irons, blower, coal oil and tuition included. A driving trolley is also included but not the one shown in the video.
