On behalf of the owners we are pleased to offer for sale Robey 42129, one of 3 Tandem rollers on the rally circuit the engine is an interesting and practical machine and ideal for someone who likes something a bit different.

It is reported to be in excellent mechanical condition and with a sound boiler having had extensive repairs by Pridhams in 2005. It received a new set of tubes in 2022 and has been regularly inspected by a respected independent boilerman with reports available for genuinely interested parties. The underslung belly tank is of welded construction although sound new plates to make a riveted tank are included in the sale.

The Robey Tandem uses the same boiler and motion of the Wagons and Express Tractor, as a roller it proves perfect for tarmac rolling with even weight distribution over the rolls and instant reverse.

The roller spent its full working life with well known contractors R. Dingle and sons of Cornwall. During WW2 it was worked by the firm on a Cornish Airfield, while there it came under fire from a German Messerschmitt and sustained a number of bullet holes, hence the name "Bullet". The Robey never went into a derelict state being sold straight from work into preservation and attended the first West of England Steam Rally.

The engine is located with the owner in Cornwall where viewings by interested parties is welcomed, for further information please do not hesitate to contact us.

Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
