4.5" Burrell Traction Engine
Steam Test Exp:
On behalf of the owners we are pleased to offer for sale this nicely made example of the 4.5” Burrell built to the Plastows design. Although an older engine it has been kept in good running order and is reliable and strong performer.
We have a soft spot for these engines as our family owned one for many years, in fact it was a first miniature engine we owned. They do everything well whether it be pottering around the rallyfield or taking you and some friends on the evening road run. Like most we have driven this is a free steaming and easy engine to get along with.
The commercially made boiler is water fed by crankshaft driven pump and steam injector, it underwent extensive overhaul in its previous ownership by well-known boiler maker Wayne Bell, as such is reported to be in good condition and full documented evidence of this is included in the paperwork file. The fire grate is the rose-bud design which works very well and makes the engine very efficient on coal.
Recently the engine had new vulcanised rear tyres fitted, these have seen no more than one miles worth of use on the road. She will be supplied ready to rally with a full set of firing irons, driving trolley as shown in the pictures, coal, oil and a full days tuition included.
For more information please do not hesitate to contact us, we would be happy to consider all steam and vintage vehicles part exchange.
Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
