We are pleased to offer for sale this 99% complete 4” Burrell Single Crank Compound, we say 99% as there may be something we have missed but as far as we can tell everything is there to complete the engine. (there are boxes of bits not in the pictures) If the engine doesn't sell before hand we will be finishing it off ourselves then re-listing once complete.

The engine has been built to a good standard by a retired electro/mechanical engineer, sadly he passed away earlier this year before seeing the project finished but it looks to have been steamed and runs well on compressed air. The current paintwork finish is Craftmaster Dark Red undercoat so is ready for further rub-down and top coat in the correct coach enamel. The wheels have been left in primer with the intention of having rubber tyres fitted, it could of course be kept as is on the strakes if you are not intending on doing lots of road work with it.

Importantly the engine has had money spent in the right places with most of the steam fittings coming from John Rex Model Engineers, a professionally cut set of gears and parts like proper gauge glass protectors etc. It is to the LSM design and comes with 2 sets of drawings, the clean drawing room set and grubby workshop set.

We bought the engine with the intention of finishing it ourselves and if it's still here in 3-4 weeks then work will begin. Once finished with rubber tyres, proper paint job with lining etc we would advertise the engine for around £22,000 so have advertised in its current condition at a price which leaves plenty of scope for finishing, it is also comparable to the Steam Traction World Burrell SCC kits.

The Burrell also comes with a sturdy riding trailer, firing irons, blower and couple of bags of coal already for the first steam up. Once complete you would be welcome to bring the engine back to us for a days tuition for no extra charge.

As always we are happy to consider all steam and vintage vehicles part exchange and should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

N.B. Please excuse the clarity of the pictures our normal camera packed up and we will take some more when the replacement arrives shortly.

Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
