3" Atkinson Articulated Steam Lorry
Steam Test Exp:
We are pleased to offer for sale this beautifully built Atkinson Steam Wagon. Although it hasn't been to any yet I am sure if entered into model engineering exhibitions it would come away with plenty of awards, the accuracy and quality of workmanship is top class.
Originally built by an English gentleman in Australia the wagon came to the UK in 2008, on arrival it was and steam tested then put on static display until we purchased it last year and recommissioned it for use. We originally sold the engine at the end of 2020 and we have just taken it back as part exchange against a larger engine, the previous owner has spent many hours making modifications and improvements to aid running and also built the impressive trailer.
It is clear over the years the engine has seen little use being enjoyed for what it is rather than for being run around the rallyfield. Being honest, if you want an engine to run around the rallyfield on every weekend this is not it, however if you are looking for a beautiful and impressive piece of model engineering which can be steamed up at home or for pottering around the model club track on this could be ideal.
For a relatively small capacity boiler it is an easy engine to steam and get along with. The copper boiler comes fully ticketed and ready to go, water feed is by a hand-pump, crank driven pump and steam injector.
With the engine is some nice history with write ups of the build and a charming letter from Seddon Atkinsons Austraila who say "We have naturally had quite a few vehicle models brought to our notice....I have to be very honest and say that i have not seen one as fine as this one".
The waggon comes with everything you need to steam and enjoy including a full set of firing irons, coal, oil and a tuition. As always we are happy to consider all steam and vintage vehicles as part exchange.
Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
