PROFESSIONAL ADVERTISING

On behalf of the owner we are pleased to offer for sale this truly unique and very well presented Dennis 60-cwt Lorry.

Built as a prototype that never went into production, this lorry was kept by Dennis all its working life and interestingly was never road registered as was always run on trade plates. Clearly a useful lorry for Dennis' it had a new engine fitted in 1965 before eventually being sold on in 1968 after 35 years of service.

Due to its historical significance it was sold into preservation and restored in Lancashire. The original restoration saw it turned out in a yellow colour scheme, in this guise it attended the 1973 London to Brighton run. The lorry changed hands and after a period was subject to a ground up restoration back to its original Dennis colour scheme, before being put on display in the Commercial Vehicle Museum in Leyland until acquired by its present owner.

The bed was rebuilt as a flatbed however the original fittings etc are included should the next owner wish to put drop-sides back on.

The lorry has a well maintained 4 cylinder petrol engine coupled to a 4 speed gearbox, out on the road cruising speeds of 30-40mph are quite comfortable. Its size is comparable to a modern XLWB van making it a practical option for people with limited storage space.

Due to its history and uniqueness it will be a great addition to any vintage vehicle collection, or it will be equally as enjoyed by an enthusiast looking for a a well-maintained and practical commercial vehicle.
