proffesional advertising

We are pleased to advertise for sale this Aveling and Porter Steam tractor, the engine has been in the same ownership for 48 years and was converted from an F-Type roller in 1976.

The F-Type roller is classed as a 10 ton machine with 6NHP rating. They are strong performers on the road being free steaming and powerful engines, with a balanced crank they spin up well and have a good turn of speed (in roller terms) which is increased further by the rubber tyres now fitted. The engine has been known to average around 10mph on a run.

Mechanically it is reported to be in good condition with a decent set of gears and well maintained motion work. The boiler however is now in need of major repairs. A full boiler inspection has been conducted by well respected boiler-man Dave Wothers, a copy of which is available to genuinely interested buyers.

The boiler cladding tins have been removed for inspection but are included in the sale, also included is a pair of belly tank end plates that would be a suitable size for the engine.

Little is known of the engines working history apart from it working in Wolverhampton before entering preservation through a machinery dealer. If anyone has any further information they would be willing to share with us please do, we will pass it onto current and new owners.

Once the boiler work has been completed the result will be a capable engine for some one to enjoy, ideal if you are looking to do a lot of roading but find a roller a bit too slow and an original tractor slightly out of reach. Being based on a 10 ton roller you can comfortably single man the engine or you have plenty of room for 2 on the footplate.

Viewings and inspections are welcomed by genuinely interested buyers.
