On behalf of the owners we are pleased to offer for sale Fowler 17482 "The Councillor". Originally built as a roller in 1929 the engine was seen at rallies up until the early 1980s in its original form before being parked up for many years in a field. The engine was purchased by the current owners circa 2008 and after assessing the condition the decision was made to convert the engine into a Showmans. Most of the heavy work has been done and the engine now presents the exciting opportunity for the new owner to finish it as they so desire, there is no reason why with the motivation the engine couldn't be out for the end of the season.

The boiler has had extensive work with a new firebox, barrel and tubeplate being fitted by Alton engineering. The engine also has a brand new tender and wheels that better suit the Showmans style. Mechanically the engine is in excellent order with many original Fowler parts and newly manufactured parts being used including:
- a full set of gears
- new bearings and shafts
- new valves and pistons rods
- Cylinder rebore and new pistons
- Boiler cladding tins
- Belly tanks
- Canopy

Also included in the sale is an original Mather and Platt Dynamo which has been fully refurbished and twisted brass with olivers to finish the engine as a showmans.

The engine has been run on compressed air and is reported to run well, it will want the normal fettling and running in when on steam. It now needs time rather than much extra expense to finish and with the work so far completed will be one of the best conversions on the rallyfield. There are many parts not currently photographed but it is believed everything is now there to finish the engine.

The Fowler remains with the owner and viewings by genuinely interested parties are welcomed, it is requested initial enquires come through Legacy. As always we are happy to help with part exchange and finance where possible.

For further information or to arrange a viewing please do not hesitate to contact us.

Important Note: We recommend when purchasing any steam vehicle to employ the services of your own boiler inspector for independent advice and not solely rely on previous test reports.
